FLAME University

FLAME University’s Centre for Legislative Education and Research has launched a Digital Archive on India’s State Formation and District Evolution. The launch was initiated in the Transition conclave where 75 years of evolution was discussed. During the event, the university also launched a first-of-its-kind open access digital repository chronicling India's state and district formation through interactive data vizualisationarchival records, and policy insights. The event also featured 26 posters that visually chronicled the founding of Indian States and Union territories, as well as the progression of their districts.

During the event, Prof. M.A. Venkataramanan, Pro Vice-chancellor of FLAME University, stated that the launch of the digital repository will help in the university's mission to promote research driven policy discourse in the country. The inauguration of the interactive digital archive also included a series of expert-led sessions and panel discussions on state creation, district reform, governance structures, legal and constitutional considerations, and policy challenges.

Meanwhile, the Director of Centre for Legislative Education and Research, FLAME University conveyed the significance of democratizing the historical governance data and mentioned that the university is digitizing public knowledge resources that are currently available with the government bodies in the form of physical documents. The university's digital project makes this data easily accessible online, allowing students, scholars, policymakers, citizens, and society as a whole to interact more intimately with the historical transformations of India's territorial landscape.
