Kunul Kandir Appointed Vice Chancellor of Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka

Prior to this appointment, she served as a Professor in the Department of Botany at Ranchi University, where she also held the position of Dean of the Science Faculty

Prof. (Dr.) Kunul Kandir has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU) in Dumka. The appointment was formalized through a notification issued under the directive of the Governor-cum-Chancellor of Jharkhand’s universities, Santosh Kumar Gangwar.

This development marks a pivotal step in advancing SKMU’s mission to serve the socio-economically and geographically disadvantaged communities of the Santhal Parganas region.

Prof Kandir, a seasoned academic and botanist, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Prior to this appointment, she served as a Professor in the Department of Botany at Ranchi University, where she also held the position of Dean of the Science Faculty and Chairperson of the department. Her academic journey is marked by notable contributions, including guiding six Ph.D. scholars to completion, with seven more ongoing, and publishing numerous research papers in reputed journals. She has also authored and edited books, contributing significantly to botanical studies and academic discourse.

Dr. Kandir’s administrative experience is equally commendable. From May 17, 2017, to May 16, 2020, she served as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribagh, demonstrating her capability to navigate complex academic governance.
