Nalanda University admissions 2025 are open. A few more updates are given below:
- The MAT 2026 May session registrations have started for admission to the MBA course. For the PBT mode, the registration deadline is May 25, 2026, with the exam scheduled for May 31, 2026. For the CBT mode, the last date to register is Jun 8, 2026, for the exam taking place on Jun 14, 2026.
- The CAT 2026 registration is expected to start in the Aug, 2026 for admission to the MBA course.
Nalanda University Highlights 2025
Nalanda University is set in a 455-acre serene campus at the foothills of Rajgir, in the historical town of Rajagriha. The university was established in 2010 by an Act of the Indian Parliament. In the past years, the University received two awards, namely the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) Award and the Ministry of Education's Green Champion Award. Nalanda University Bihar is under the aegis of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. It is also an Institute of National Importance.
Courses offered in Nalanda University include postgraduate, doctoral, diploma and certification courses through five schools and two centres of education in the streams of Management, Historical Sciences, Languages and more. At postgraduate level, the University offers two-year courses, namely MSc, MA and MBA. Nalanda University offers a four-year PhD course in both full-time and part-time modes. In addition to this, Nalanda University Bihar also offers a few diploma and certificate courses in Sanskrit, English, Korean, Yoga, Pali and Tibetan.
The university has a common admission criteria for admitting students to the college, i.e. merit in the last qualifying examination. However, for MBA admissions, the university considers the scores of national-level entrance exams, namely MAT, XAT and CAT. Nalanda University in India also offers placements assistance to students. The first batch of MBA in Sustainable Development and Management has recorded 100% placements during Nalanda University placements 2022. Nalanda University is situated in Rajgir, Bihar. The university was established in 2010 by an Act of the Indian Parliament. The total tuition fee for BSc courses is around 9,600. The University only offers 1 specialization for a B.Sc course which is a B.Sc (Hons.) in statistics. To be eligible for a B.Sc at Nalanda University one must have cleared class 12th by a minimum of 50%. Approximately 35 seats are allotted for the B.Sc course at Nalanda University.
To get admission to the University, students first must have a minimum of 70 percentile in the XAT/MAT/CAT entrance test followed by selection for a Personal Interview. The average CAT score can be considered 198 to 180 for the MBA and the 90+ percentile in any of CAT and MAT can be considered good for admission to the top colleges.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidate should have a graduation degree from a recognised university with 55 percentage or 2.2/4.0 GPA or equivalent GPA Proof of English proficiency is required for students coming from non English speaking medium: TOEFL/IELTS or any other standard certification in English. The candidate having full-time degree-level course, entirely taught and assessed in English need not submit any certificate.
For Working Executives- Minimum 5 years of working experience.
No Objection Certificate is required from employer for working executives/sponsored candidates/ candidates on sabbatical/candidates recommended by PSUs/GOI Departments.
CAT/XAT/MAT score will not be applicable.

Nalanda Open University selection criteria is merit-based only. The university offers seats to all the students who submit a completed application before the last date. There is no entrance test or interview for selection. For B.Ed however, students may have to sit for the Bihar B.Ed CET.

Yes, you can join Nalanda Open University UG-level courses directly after Class 12 resuts are announced. Students are selected based on academic merit only. For admission to courses, such as BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCom, and more, you may apply after Class 12 is completed.
