Candidates pursuing a law/ management accounting degree can apply for Diploma/Certificate Course in Law and Practice of Arbitration offered by NLU Delhi. Read here to know more. 

NLU Delhi announced the admissions to Diploma/Certificate Course in Law and Practice of Arbitration. The candidates already pursuing an LLB, LLM, BCom., MCom., MBA, CA, CS courses or are lawyers can apply before September 15. The classes for the Diploma/Certificate Course in Law and Practice of Arbitration will begin from October 15, onwards. There is no entrance test as part of the selection criteria for admission to this course. However, the seats are limited for this online mode course. 

The official website, "India’s first-ever completely online professional course for students and professionals working in the areas of Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, Business, Management, Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries etc. is being launched by the Centre for ADR of the National Law University."

"This course is designed to discuss in detail the nuances of domestic and international commercial arbitration. The course is a completely online course which gives an option to the participant to undergo the program at a place and time convenient to him/her."

Eligibility for NLU Delhi's Diploma/Certificate Course in Law and Practice of Arbitration

Candidates need to fulfil the eligibility requirements of this course as mentioned by the exam authority: 

  • They should have passed class 12th or equivalent examination with 60% marks 
  • They should be passed or pursuing an LLB, LLM, BCom., MCom., MBA, CA, CS courses. 

Candidates can apply in online mode only on the official website. They need to pay registration fees of Rs 3,000 through online payment methods.

Basics of Domestic Arbitration - Types of Arbitration, Arbitration agreement, - Appointment of arbitrators, Powers and function of arbitrators, Jurisdiction issues, Interim measures of protection, Arbitral Proceedings, Arbitral Awards, Annulment of arbitral awards, Duties of arbitrators 

Basics of International Commercial Arbitration - New York Convention and UNCITRAL Model Law, International Arbitration Agreement, Choice of Law, Seat theory v. delocalized theory of arbitration, Recognition and enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Award, Rules of Major International Arbitral Institutions (SIAC, LCIA, ICC, etc) 

Module II  Investment Arbitration, Online Dispute Resolution, Advocacy in Arbitration, Award Writing, and Ethics in Arbitration
Module III Indian Contract Act, Limitation Act, Commercial Court’s Act, Interpretation of Statutes
