Maharashtra School Reopening: Maharashtra State Government released SOPs and guidelines for reopening of schools in the state for Classes 9 to 12 from November 23, 2020, onwards. The government issued the SOPs and Guidelines under the banner of 'Mission Begin Again' which provides the necessary precautionary measures to keep students, teachers and other members safe from COVID-19 infection. According to Maharashtra Government's 'Mission Begin Again' all the necessary measures as mentioned on the official notice are mandatory to be followed by the school administration, students and teachers as schools restart. The statement says that the instructions of Central and State Government regarding COVID-19 are to be followed for reopening of schools and safe conduct of classes for the students. School Administrations are asked to follow strict protocols for health, hygiene and other safety precautions on daily basis. In order to attend school, students will be required to carry a written consent letter from their parents regarding the same.

Earlier in the week, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray stated that schools reopening after Diwali will have to take precautions such as the sanitization of school premises and health checkups of teachers. During the meeting in which decision regarding reopening of schools was taken, Chief Minister said that,“Given the present situation, a second wave of coronavirus cannot be ruled out. There is a need to be cautious for some days after Diwali. The schools that had been converted into quarantine centres cannot be re-converted at the moment. Local administration should take a decision whether schools can be started at alternate places in such a situation.” In addition to this, CM also said that students who are not well or have family members who are ailing should avoid attending schools.
