AICTE revised its academic calendar after the release of the revised examination guidelines of the University Grant Commission. Read further to know the details.
AICTE Revised Academic Calendar 2020 is RELEASED! University Grant Commission (UGC) released the revised guidelines. After the announcement of UGC Revised guidelines 2020, AICTE again revised its guidelines for all the universities, colleges and academic institutions imparting technical and management education across the country. According to the latest academic calendar, the classes for the existing students of technical courses in all affiliated colleges will commence from August 17, 2020. However, the Council clearly stated, "The classes may be started in online/offline (classroom) or blended mode (online + offline) following the prescribed protocols/guidelines related to COVID-19". The official notification released by AICTE after the declaration of the UGC Revised Guidelines 2020 reads, "UGC has issued revised guidelines on examination and academic calendar tor all Universities, in view of the COVID-19 on 06107/2020. Ail the AICTE approved institutions/universities are requested to follow UGC Revised Guidelines on Examination. Accordingly, the Council has issued revised Acadenric Calenclar for 2020-21 for Technical Institutions".
The teaching process including lateral entry to second-year courses for newly admitted students will start from October 15. The calendar is in continuation of AICTE's earlier communications where it announced the revised academic calendar as per the directives released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) following the initial academic calendar defining dates for academic activities for the Academic Year 2020-21 in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. However, the Council decided to revise the calendar again as per the directives released by UGC.
According to the guidelines issued by the University Grant Commission, evaluation of the terminal semester students which was to be done through examinations in the month of July, now their examinations will be conducted by the end of September 2020. Earlier, AICTE also asked institutes to grant provisional admissions to PGDM and PGCM i.e. Certificate and Diploma Programmes in Management Courses, in wake of ongoing coronavirus crisis in the country. However, with the conduct of the final year exams, the admission procedure would come back to the track. List of REVISED directives given by AICTE to institutions, check below:
- Complete the first round of counseling/ admission for allotment of seats, On or before October 5, 2020.
- Completion of Second round of counselling/ admission for allotment of seats: On or before October 15, 2020
- Last date up to which students can be admitted against vacancies: October 20, 2020.
- Commencement of classes for existing students of technical courses except for PGDM/PGCM: August 17, 2020
- Commencement of the academic session and the teaching process including Lateral Entry to Second Year Courses for newly admitted students: October 15, 2020
- Technical Institutions conducting PGDM/PGCM Courses shall not initiate the admission before: April 1, 2020
- Commencement of classes for existing students PGDM/PGCM: July 15, 2020
- Last date for cancellation of seats of PGDM/PGCM with a full refund: August 10, 2020
- Last date up to which students can be admitted in Open and Distance Learning Courses: August 30, 2020, and February 28, 2021 (In two sessions respectively)
- The academic session for the PGDM/ PGCM Courses for newly admitted students: August 10, 2020.
- Admission ending date of PGDM/ PGCM Courses: August 17, 2020
