IIM Trichy to commence PGPM in HR from new academic year

In a recent development, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Trichy is going to add a post-graduation programme in management (PGPM) in human resources (HR) from the new academic year. According to IIM Trichy, the main objective of the programme is to prepare HR managers who are capable of doing well in any domain. According to Bhimaraya Metri, IIM Trichy Director, the HR programme offered by IIM Trichy would be different than the one offered by IIM Ranchi and IIM Indore.

He further observed that other MBA in HR programmes offer common learning in the first year and emphasis on specialisation is introduced in the second year of the programme. He asserted that IIM Trichy would focus on aspects of human resource management right from the first year itself. He informed that every student in the programme would have a guide in the industry. They would get a real life exposure as they would get mentorship by senior people working in top positions in the industry.

He further stated that the institute had close contact with the national HRD network to bring in seasoned industry people for mentoring. The HR programme would commence with a capacity of 30. The entire course work will be on HR. He asserted that they are keeping avenues open for students for regular PGPM to pursue HR courses as elective and vice versa. IIM Trichy has plans to commence e-MBA general and business analytics in the coming months. The new online programmes would be commenced considering the requirement for new generation courses.
