IIM Shortlists 2026 for all campuses was announced in January and the interviews were conducted in February-March. Most of the campuses sent out PI calls. All about PI shortlisting process for IIMs

Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) campuses completed the shortlisting process for the Personal Interview round of PGP/MBA admission 2026, in January and conducted the WAT-PI round on February-March. Final merilt list will be released for each campus in May and the classes will commence in July.  The IIM shortlisting of candidates was based on their CAT 2025 result. For 2026 academic year, the qualifying CAT cut offs were between 80-90 percentile (General category). The final CAT cut offs were much higher (97-100 percentile ) as always. While the top IIMs conducted the selection process individually, newer IIMs shortlisted candidates through IIM CAP and IIM JAP. IIM Shortlisting and Selection Process 2026

The IIM shortlisting and selection process for MBA admission 2026 includes three stages.

Stage 1: Shortlisting of candidates on the basis of their CAT exam score

Once the CAT result is announced, the candidates are asked to apply for WAT/GD-PI round by each IIM on its official website basis their CAT score vs CAT cut offs.

Stage 2: Screening of candidates for WAT-GD-PI

In the second stage, the institute shortlists the candidates who applied for WAT-GD-PI on the basis of their CAT score and academic record, and send then WAT-GD-PI invite.

Stage 3: Calculation of Composite Score and Final Selection

In the third stage, the composite score of each candidate is calculated on the basis of parameters such as CAT score, WAT-PI performance, academic history, work experience, diversity, etc. to finalise their selection for MBA admission.

The IIM shortlisting process included online application submission by candidates for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) and selection of candidates for the same based on their CAT 2025 result and academic record. Candidates had to fill the shortlist forms to participate in WAT-PI using their CAT login IDs.

IIMs WAT-GD-PI: Documents to Carry

  • Marksheets of Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation (original and self-attested photocopies). 
  • Caste/class and/or disability certificate in case of SC, ST, NC-OBC and PwD candidates (original and self-attested photocopies).
  • Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) examination must show a certificate from the Principal/Registrar/Director of the university/institution certifying that he/she has obtained a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate or equivalent (45 per cent in case of the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD category) in the latest available grades/marks.

No, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar has not mentioned that it accepts CAT score for MBA admissions on their portals. Candidates are instead required to appear for an in-house entrance exam that is conducted by GNDU itself.

Yes, IBSAT exam is comparatively easier than CAT in terms of syllabus difficulty level and competition. CAT question paper requires high anlaytical solving skills to score well in exam, whereas IBSAT exam assesses candidate's speed and accuracy. The difficulty level of IBSAT exam is moderate.

Srinivas University - Bangalore Campus accepts national or state-level Management entrance exam scores for admission in MBA. Hence, aspirants can apply via CAT scores. They can also appear for SUAT conducted by the university for admission.

The registrations for the exam generally start from the month of August and continue till September. The admit cards are released by November. Exam is conducted usually by last week of November. Students can download their results by December.

Yes, COEP, Pune does accept CAT score to admit candidates for MBA admissions. During CAP rounds, if candidates have a valid score in CAT, they will be chosen based on those scores only. Thus, such candidates are not required to reappear for MAH-CET.
