This new initiative by IMS Indore is designed to provide MBA students with valuable, paid exposure to the corporate world while they are still in their studies. The move aims to enhance their career prospects and offer them an edge in the competitive job market.
The Institute of Management Studies (IMS), a teaching department of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, has launched its inaugural summer placement programme, drawing inspiration from top Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). This new initiative is designed to provide MBA students with valuable, paid exposure to the corporate world while they are still in their studies. The move aims to enhance their career prospects and offer them an edge in the competitive job market.
16 Students Selected for Internships on Day One
IMS Director, Prof. Deepak Shrivastava, shared the exciting development and revealed that the institute has already started inviting companies to participate in the summer placements. On the very first day of the programme, 16 students were selected by various organizations for internships. These internships, which will last a minimum of six weeks, are set to provide students with hands-on industry experience that will complement their academic learning and prepare them for future professional challenges.
Stipends and Learning Experience to Prepare Students for Careers
As part of the summer placement programme, companies will offer students stipends ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 during the internship period. This financial support, coupled with the valuable learning experience, aims to equip IMS students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the professional world. Prof. Shrivastava emphasized, “The summer placement programme will help us further strengthen our ties with industry partners and offer students practical exposure to the corporate environment.”
Building Professional Networks and Future Employment Opportunities
The summer placements are not only designed to help students enhance their skills but also to allow them to build professional networks that could lead to potential full-time employment opportunities after graduation. Prof. Shrivastava stated, “Through these internships, students will be able to connect with professionals in their respective industries, giving them a head start in their careers.”
Strategic Move in Line with Corporate Internship Trends
The launch of the structured summer placement programme comes at a time when internships have become a crucial stepping stone for students aspiring to secure coveted roles in the corporate world. With many top companies now offering internships as a path to permanent employment, the IMS programme aims to provide students with a competitive advantage. Prof. Shrivastava expressed optimism for the future of the programme, saying, “As the summer placement process continues to unfold, we are optimistic that more companies will join the initiative, providing students with diverse opportunities to advance their careers and gain exposure to a variety of sectors.”
IMS Commitment to Student Development
This summer placement programme marks a significant step in IMS's commitment to bridging the gap between academic education and real-world professional experience. By offering structured corporate exposure, IMS is helping its students gain the skills, confidence, and networks needed to succeed in the business world.
