TANCET or the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test has commenced on March 20. TANCET is the admission test for MBA, MCA, ME/MTech and MArch/MPlan courses offered by over 200 colleges in Tamil Nadu. Anna University, Chennai is conducting the test is a paper-pencil based mode for a duration of two hours in 15 cities across Tamil Nadu. The test is being conducted over a two-day window in three slots. While on Day 1, MBA and MCA entrance tests are conducted over two slots, from 10 am to 12 noon (MCA) and 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm (MBA). The ME/MTech/MArch/MPlan exam is scheduled to be held on Day 2 in the forenoon slot.

As many as 38,858 candidates have applied for TANCET 2021, of which 21,789 are MBA applicants, 6,917 are MCA applicants and 10,152 are ME/MTech/MArch/MPlan applicants.

Each question carries one mark and four answer options. Candidates have to shade the circle adjacent to the correct answer option with a blue or black pencil. There is a negative marking scheme of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer. If any candidate selects multiple options as the answer, it will be treated as the wrong answer and 1/3 mark will be deducted for this. No marks will be deducted for the questions left unanswered. Candidates will have to submit the TANCET 2021 Question Booklet, OMR Answer Sheet and rough sheet before leaving the test centre.

It is expected that Anna University will release the TANCET answer keys within a couple of weeks of conducting the exam and candidates may challenge the answer keys within the stipulated date by submitting the requisite documents and fee.

The qualified candidates will have to participate in the counselling process through the document verification process. There are approximately 18,000 MBA seats offered through TANCET.
