TANCET 2026 Analysis: Highlights

Anna University conducted the MBA exam from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM across 16 cities. More than 20,000 candidates took the TANCET MBA exam for admissions in Tamil Nadu. Here are some key highlights of the TANCET MBA exam 2026:

  • Overall Difficulty: The MBA question paper was considered Easy to Moderate by most of the test takers.
  • Format Change in Section 1: Instead of the usual multiple-page case studies, the Business Situation Analysis featured a single, easy-to-read one-page paragraph followed by 20 questions. Passages covered topics like student placements and the Keeladi archaeological site.
  • Reading Comprehension Details: Section 2 consisted of 4 distinct passages, with 5 questions assigned to each passage.
  • Question Errors and Out-of-Syllabus Topics: In Section 3, there were notable errors. Question 43 (boats and streams), 47, and 50 (Venn diagram) were reported to be incorrect by many candidates. Furthermore, Questions 48 and 59 were considered out of syllabus.
  • Section 4 & 5 Content: Data Sufficiency (Section 4) included questions on predicting rain, ratios, finding the tallest person, areas, and profits. Section 5 (English) featured fill-in-the-blanks, spot the error, synonyms, and antonyms. Some vocabulary questions directly matched mock test material.

TANCET MCA Analysis: Anna University conducted the MCA exam from 10 AM to 12 Noon across 16 cities. Around 10,000 candidates took he TANCET exam for MCA admissions. Most of the candidates reported TANCET MCA exam to be tougher than they expected. A decent score in TANCET MCA exam will range anywhere between 45 and 50 marks out of 100.

TANCET 2023 Exam Analysis

The Data Sufficiency and Business Situation Analysis sections were difficult while the General English section was relatively easy. Shared below is the section-wise analysis of the TANCET 2023 exam:

Business Situation Analysis

The Business Situation Analysis section of TANCET 2023 was moderately difficult as compared to last year’s question paper. Problems were based on the business situation in the form of paragraphs. Exam takers had to also answer questions on percentage and equivalence among other topics. There were two caselets, that included XYZ Company manufacturing traditional pickles, and 'Farm foods’ a company engaged in organic food production and sales. Noth the passages had 10 questions each. 

Reading Comprehension

Last year, the Reading Comprehension (RC) section had four passages with a varied number of questions. The topic of passages and the number of questions are given below:

  • Union efforts for public sector worker (five questions)
  • The Effects of Food Intake on the Production and Release of Serotonin (five questions)
  • Japanese automobile workers and their efficiency (five questions)
  • biases of United States history textbooks (five questions)

The passages were of easy to moderate difficulty level.

Quantitative Aptitude

The Quantitative Aptitude section of TANCET 2023 was easier as compared to last year’s question paper. The questions were broadly based on Average, Ratio & Mixtures, Interests, Rates and Set Theory. 

General English

The General English section was relatively easier than last year. It had five questions each from Synonyms, Antonyms, Prepositions and Appropriate Words. 

Data Sufficiency and Reasoning

Data Sufficiency & Reasoning continues to be the most challenging section of the TANCET 2023 exam for the past few years. This year too, the difficulty level of this section was on the higher side. Questions were broadly based on Pie Chart, Syllogism, Blood Relation Analogy, Coding-Decoding, Direction, Sitting Arrangement, Series.
