TANCET Percentile Score vs TANCET Marks

The TANCET results include several details including both TANCET marks and TANCET percentile score. TANCET marks refer to the actual score in the TANCET exam calculated based on the marking scheme. Whereas, the TANCET percentile score is the comparative performance depicting how well you did in the exam as compared to other candidates. The percentile score in TANCET does not take into account the negative marking.

Calculation of Percentile Score in TANCET 2023

The formula to calculate the TANCET percentile score is as follows:
TANCET Percentile Score: (Y/N)*100

Here, Y denotes the total number of test takers having a lower score. Whereas, N denotes the total number of candidates who took the TANCET exam. A candidate with a 97 per cent score indicates that he/she scored better than 97 per cent of the test takers in TANCET 2023.

FAQs Regarding TANCET Cut Off

Q: Which TANCET score would be used for admissions into TANCET MBA colleges? I have an actual score of 29.33 and a percentile score of 87.678.

A: Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, only considers TANCET percentile score. TANCET actual score is calculated by allotting 1 mark each for the correct response and deducting 1/3 mark for each incorrect response. The actual score can be converted into a percentile score after evaluating the total test takers with an actual score that is less than a particular test taker. For example, Mohan has an actual score of 59 marks, and 95% of the total test takers secured an actual score below 59. In such a case, the percentile score of Mohan will be 95. Similarly, if 98% of the test takers had secured an actual score less than 59, Mohan would get 98 as his percentile score in TANCET exam. Further, DTE allots TANCET rank based on the percentile score of the test taker eligible for the counselling process.
