TS ICET 2025: Experts Predict Slight Dip in Cutoff after Day 1 of TG ICET

The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) conducted the first day of TS ICET 2025 exam yesterday across the state. This year, a total of 71,757 candidates registered for the Telangana ICET exam. Compared with the previous exam session, the registration number has declined by more than 14,000 registrations. In 2024, TG ICET encountered 86,156 candidates. Of all the applicants in the previous exam session, 77,942 appeared for the exam.

TG ICET 2025 Cutoffs Likely to Dip
On the first day of the TG ICET 2025 exam, the difficulty level reported for the exam remains similar to the past exam sessions. Additionally, no major change in the number of seats is expected to happen this year. The drop in total registrations will, in turn, lead to fewer candidates qualifying the exam.
If the number of qualifying candidates this year follows past patterns, cutoff scores for MBA admissions in Telangana may remain the same or dip marginally across most institutes. However, tier-1 colleges may still record a competitive cutoff for admission through TS ICET.

Every year, with the release of TG ICET notification, TGCHE notifies the qualifying cutoff, also known as qualifying score. Candidates appearing for the TG ICET exam must meet the qualifying cutoff to participate in the counselling process. The qualifying cutoff has not changed from the previous session. Candidates have to score a minimum of 25 per cent marks if they belong to unreserved categories. Those who belong to reserved categories are eligible for the counselling, irrespective of their scores. Out of 200 marks, your category candidates have to secure 50 marks to be eligible to participate in the counselling process.

The final impact on TS ICET cutoff scores will depend on the number of candidates who qualify this year. Previous Years TG ICET Qualifying Rate
In 2023, a total of 70,900 candidates appeared for the ICET exam in Telangana. Of the total test takers, 61,092 passed the exam leading to a pass percentage of 86.16 per cent. The year before that, i.e. in 2022, 68,781 candidates appeared, of which 61,613 passed the exam, taking the pass rate to 89.57 per cent. Out of 77,942 test takers in 2024, as many as 71647 passed the TG ICET exam to appear for the counselling process.
The total number of qualifying candidates for TG ICET 2025 is not yet known, the data from previous years indicates a consistently high qualification rate.
