AIIMS Bathinda PG students protest: Doctors associations come in support of medicos
The Association of Resident Doctors, PGIMER has released an official statement in support of AIIMS Bathinda PG students who are protesting after being informed that their course is not approved.
Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has come in support of the protesting PG medical students in AIIMS Bathinda. These students after six months of taking admission to their courses told that the institute does not have approval for their seats.
The ARD, PGIMER's official release reads, "In a bizarre incident in a so called INI, AIIMS Bathinda - 50 PG seats were advertised for the January 2022 session in various departments through INI-CET and seats were accordingly filled following standard counselling procedures. However, after 2-3 months into the course, the governing body of the institute de-recognised the previously approved courses and said that the academic residents in the clinical departments would work as non-academic residents in the institute. The reason cited was the unavailability of adequate facilities in OPD, OT etc."
The doctors association has questioned the advertisement of seats when infrastructure was lacking in AIIMS Bathinda. The association has urged the health ministry to intervene in the matter and said that the ministry and administration are playing with the lives and the future of residents.
Dr Rahul Chakravarty, President of ARD tweeted, "#ARD #PGIMER stands in solidarity with our residents at #AiimsBathinda. This is supposed to be the first batch of the institute, this is how they are being treated for trusting their future with #AIIMS #Bathinda? @MoHFW_INDIA @mansukhmandviya need to intervene immediately."

RDA AIIMS Delhi's tweet reads, "@AIIMSRDA extends wholehearted support to junior residents of @AiimsBathinda
against erroneous decision taken by their administration. We raise our voice against this injustice & stand in solidarity with suffering resident doctors. @OfficeOf_MM"
RDA AIIMS Delhi's official statement says, "Informing this to them in the middle of their course is unjustified. The uncertainty of their course approval & its timely completion makes the situation more worrisome. This kind of gesture from an Institute of National Importance is not at all appreciable."
