NEET 2024 Counselling: Round 1 Seat Resignation Window Open Till September 3 at mcc.nic.in
The NEET 2024 Counselling Round 1 seat resignation window has been opened by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on August 31, 2024, and the last date to resign seats is September 3, 2024, 6 PM. Candidates have to login to resign their Round 1 seats.
The NEET 2024 Counselling Round 1 seat resignation window has been opened by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on August 31, 2024, and the last date to resign seats is September 3, 2024, 6 PM. Candidates who have been allotted seats in the Round 1 of NEET UG 2024 counselling on August 25, 2024, and have reported can resign or give up the allotted seats to avoid forfeiture of security deposit.
Announcing the same, MCC has stated, “Reference is made to the requests being received from candidates who have been allotted seats through state counselling and now want to resign their Round-1 seat allotted through MCC. Such candidates can resign their Round-1 seat within the period 02:00 P.M of 31.08.2024 upto 06:00 P.M of 03.09.2024 without forfeiture of Security Deposit after which they will be considered as part of Round-2 and same rules will apply on them as applicable for Round- 2 of counselling.”
How to Resign NEET 2024 Counselling Round 1 Seats
Candidates will have to follow the steps given below to resign the NEET 2024 counselling Round 1 seats:
- Visit the NEET counselling website – mcc.nic.in/ug-medical-counselling/
- Click on the New Registration 2024 tab under the Candidate Activity Board
- Login with the registration credentials of NEET 2024 Round 1 counselling
- Click on the Seat Resignation link
- Confirm and resign your seat
- Click on save
- Download and keep the seat resignation confirmation page until you are finally admitted to a state quota seat
“Candidates are advised to ensure that their Resignation Letter is generated online (through portal provided by MCC) by the allotted college, failing which the resignation will be treated as ‘Null & Void’,” MCC has stated.
The NEET 2024 counselling process for Round 2 will commence on September 5, 2024, with the registration process. Candidates who are willing to convert their nationality from Indian to NRI can do so till September 3, 2024, 10 AM.

No, candidates need not report or join the allotted college of NEET counselling Round 1 since there is free exit. However if they want to retain the Round 1 seat and upgrade in Round 2 they have to physically join the college of Round 1 and give up-gradation willingness for Round 2 at the time of admission. In case candidates decide to resign the seat allotted to them in the first round, then they can do so prior to registering in the next round of NEET counselling.
