NEET scores will now be mandatory for admission to undergraduate programmes in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy courses. The State Allied and Healthcare Council has announced that admission to BPT and occupational therapy will be conducted through the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam scores from the academic year 2026-27. 

On Friday, U. T. Iftikhar Ali Fareed, Chairman of the Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Counci has confirmed during a press release about the move. The decision has been made after ratification from the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National Testing Agency (NTA).

As per the officials, the NCAHP has finalised category-wise admission criteria for Allied and Healthcare undergraduate programmes and informed the University Grants Commission for NEET 2026 for UG allied science courses

Karnataka to Conduct BPT and BOT Admission based on NEET Scores 

As per the guidelines, admission to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) will be conducted based on NEET scores. Consequently, the Karnataka Council has issued an advisory to the Vice-Chancellors of all public, private, and deemed-to-be universities for the latest change.
