NEET UG 2026: Supreme Court Refuses Plea to Conduct Re-NEET in CBT Mode; Medicos Share Concerns
NEET 2026 Supreme Court plea to conduct the June 21 NEET UG 2026 re-test in Computer-Based Test (CBT) format has been declined. Highlighting the pressure on NTA to re NEET 2026, the vacation bench consisting of Justice PS Narasimha and Arvind Kumar deferred the matter until July.
NEET 2026 SC Hearing Update: The Supreme Court of India has refused an urgent hearing on a fresh petition requesting upcoming Re NEET 2026 exam be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. The Apex court has decided the case, listing it for regular hearing only after the conclusion of the ongoing summer vacation. The critical plea was formally mentioned today before a partial-working-day vacation bench comprising Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice Aravind Kumar. The apex court has now listed the matter for July, refusing to pass any immediate interim orders which could disturb the NTA's preparation for NEET 2026 re test on June 21, 2026.
NEET UG 2026 Supreme Court Hearing: Court Acknowledges NTA's Pressure
Justice P.S. Narasimha acknowledged pressure on NTA to conduct re-neet 2026. The court declined the petitioner’s request for immediate judicial intervention. saying that the decision will be taken after the vacation.
“They (NTA) are reholding the exam. The kind of pressure they have. We will post after vacation,” Justice Narasimha remarked during the court proceedings.
The bench also highlighted that several previous petitions have also been declined regarding NEET's pen and paper-based exam mode. To which, the legal counsel representing the petitioners, RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, they are urging to conduct NEET 2026 in CBT mode to avoid risk of future paper leaks.
NEET 2026 to be Held in Pen & Paper Based Mode
The Supreme Court bench, consisting of justices P.S. Narasimha and Justice Aravind Kumar have declined the plea urging to conduct NEET 2026 retest in CBT mode. Hence, students appearing for Re-neet 2026 exam on June 21 must keep their preparations as it is as the exam mode remains unchanged.
