NEET-UG aspirant's plea for age relaxation gets rejected in HC
Delhi High Court has dismissed a minor's plea to reduce age criteria to sit in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET 2021).
The court has found no substance in relaxing the age limit for the MBBS entrance examination.
The minor was denied to fill the application form as he had not attained the minimum age required to appear in the exam. Hence, the minor student had approached the court to file the plea through his local guardian. Through the plea, he was seeking directions to be allowed to appear in the medical entrance exam.
The petitioner was a 13-month gap to attain the minimum age limit. He had filed the petition on August 4 and the last date for filing the application form was August 6, which later extended to August 10. He has secured 90.2 per cent in Class X and 89 per cent in the Class XII exam.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) back in 2017 had reduced the attempts for appearing in the medical entrance exam to bring greater synchronization of functionality. Moreover, as per the norms, the minimum age to appear in the NEET medical entrance exam is 17 years.
