NEET UG Mandatory for Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy from 2027-28; Check 2026-27 Admission Criteria

BPT, BOT Admissions: The NEET UG mandatory requirement for admission to Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) courses has been postponed to the academic year 2027-28. According to official notification released earlier, National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that NEET UG will not be required for admissions in 2026-27 academic session due to logistical reasons.
Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy 2026-27 Admission Criteria
For 2026-27 academic year, admissions to BPT and BOT programmes will be based marks of class 12th in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). Students from General category must score at least 50%, while SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities candidates need a minimum of 40% marks. Candidates must also have passed English and meet other eligibility conditions set by officials.

As per media reports, V. Krishnakumar, State President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (Tamil Nadu Branch), said clarification has brought relief and clarity for students planning to pursue Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy courses.
