HPPSC HPAS main exam will commence from November 17. See here the details.

HPAS main exam 2019 will be conducted in November. The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has released a new exam calendar on August 26 mentioned exam dates for various exams. As per the new exam calendar, the HPAS main exam 2019 will be conducted from November 17 to 24. The HPAS exam will be conducted in two sessions on each day. The detail time table for the HPAS main exam 2019 will be released later.

Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services (HPAS) prelims 2019 will be conducted on September 13, 2020. The HPAS prelims exam is an objective type exam. The HPSC prelims is a screening exam and the marks secured in the HPAS prelims exam is not considered for the final merit.

The HPAS main exam as the name suggests is the main phase of the exam and the marks secured in the HPAS main exam is considered for the final merit list. The HPAS main exam is a descriptive type exam and the candidates need to answer the questions in the conventional essay type format.

The HPAS main exam is the extension of the HPPSC syllabus for the prelims exam. The HPAS Prelims syllabus is given below

The HPAS prelims exam is a qualifying exam only and the candidates need to qualify the exam to be eligible for the main exam. The HPAS Prelims syllabus is given below.

  • History, geography, political, art & culture and socio-economic development of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Currents events of national and international importance.
  • History of India and Indian national movement.
  • Indian and World Geography-physical, social, economic geography of India and the world.
  • Indian polity and governance –Constitution, political system, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
  • Economic and social development –sustainable development poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives, etc.  
  • General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and Climate Change –that do not require subject specialization 
  • General Science.

Aptitude Test Syllabus

The aptitude test was introduced after the inclusion of CSAT paper in the IAS Exam. The aptitude paper tests the objective orientation of the candidates. The topics of the syllabus are as follows.

  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability 
  • Decision making and problem-solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. (Class X level).
  • English Language comprehension skills (Class X level)
