ICAR NET 2020 postponed in the wake of Bharat Bandh tomorrow; no update on JEE, UPTET
There has been no official update on JEE Mains and UPTET exam scheduled for tomorrow (January 8, 2020).
The Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) has decided to postpone the ICAR NET 2020 exam which is scheduled to take place tomorrow in the wake of Bharat Bandh which has been ordered by Trade Unions across the country. However, there has been no official update from the National Testing Agency (NTA) about the JEE Mains which is currently underway for the January session. Similarly, there is no update from UPTET 2019 exam which is also scheduled for tomorrow across different test centres in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier, the ICAR NET 2020 exam was scheduled for January 8, 2020. It had decided to postpone the exam in case a law and order situation arises. However, after consultations from the Central Supervisors and Directors, the council will be holding the ICAR NET now on January 11, instead of January 8, 2020. The council stated that only the date of the exam will be changed in this case, while all other aspects - the exam venue, exam slot and time will remain unchanged.
Moreover, as per media reports, schools in different parts of the country may also announce holiday tomorrow (January 8) amid the decision to have ‘Bharat Bandh’. However, there is no confirmation on the same, as of now.
About Bharat Bandh
It will be a 24-hour all-India strike that would begin early morning on January 8. Over 25 crore workers are expected to participate in the nationwide-strike. The workers will be protesting against the policies by the central government and press for 12-point common demands of the working class on minimum wage, social security among others. This is the 4th nationwide strike called by central trade unions since the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government came to power in 2014.
