KARTET 2019 was scheduled to be held on March 15, 2020. However, the novel coronavirus outbreak postponed the examination. Later, numerous extended lockdowns imposed in order to contain the spread of the contagious virus led to further postponements of the teacher eligibility test.

Karnataka School Education Department extended the last date to apply and pay the application fee for Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test (KARTET) 2019. According to the official statement, interested candidates who have not applied yet or those who applied but have not paid the application fee can now register and pay the application fee until June 11, 2020.

While the exam dates are yet to be released, candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official website of KARTET i.e. http://sts.karnataka.gov.in/STS/front/loadindexhome.htm for all the latest updates related to the KARTET 2019.

KARTET is conducted in two papers. Candidates can choose to appear in any one or both of the papers. Check details for KARTET 2019 below:

  1. KARTET Paper I - Candidates who wish to qualify for teaching posts for Classes 1 to 5 can appear for KARTET Paper I. Candidates interested in applying for Karnataka TET Paper-I must have PUC/ Sr Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks & passed/ appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed (by whatever name known)/ 4th year B.El.Ed/ 2- year D.Ed (Special Education)/ BAI B.Sc with at least 50% marks & passed/ appearing in Final-year of 2-year D.Ed (by whatever name known).
  2. KARTET Paper II- Candidates who wish to qualify for teaching posts for Classes 6 to 8 can appear for KARTET Paper II. Eligibility for this paper is B.A/ B.Sc with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year D.EI.Ed (by whatever name known)/ 2-year B.Ed/ 4-year B.El.Ed/ Final-year B.Ed (Special Education)/ PUC / Sr Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks & passed/ appearing in final year of 4- year B.A.Ed/ B.Sc.Ed.

KARTET 2019: Exam Pattern

KARTET 2019 question paper will have 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question will carry 1 mark with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. No negative marking will be done.  Candidates will be allotted 2.5hrs for each paper.

  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies
  • Social Studies (for visually impared candidates instead of Mathematics and EVS)

  • Mathematics and Science (for Maths and Science teachers)
