KVS, NVS Recruitment 2025: CBSE Extends Application Deadline for 14,967 Posts; Check Last Date to Apply

CBSE has extended application dates as application numbers crossed 12 lakh and many of the candidates reported facing technical issues on the portals.

Central Board of Secondary Education has extended last date to apply for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) recruitment to December 11. The previous deadline was December 4. In total, 14,967 teaching and non-teaching vacancies have been announced across both organisations.

The extension has been granted as application numbers crossed 12 lakh, and several applicants reported facing technical issues on the portals.

KVS, NVS Vacancy Breakup

KVS: 9,126 posts, including 1,334 for Principal/Vice Principal, 5,622 for PGT/TGT/PRT and Librarians, and 1,155 non-teaching roles.

NVS: 5,841 posts, including 112 for Principal/Assistant Commissioner, 4,952 teaching posts and 787 non-teaching vacancies.

Application Details

Candidates can apply online through the official websites, kvsangathan.nic.in and navodaya.gov.in. Application fees can be paid through debit/credit cards, net banking and other digital modes.

Exam Dates

The Tier-1 computer-based tests (except for NVS MTS) will be held on January 10 and 11, 2026.

Eligibility

Age:

Minimum: 18 years for all posts

Maximum: 30 years for PRT; 35 years for TGT; 40 years for PGT; 35–45 years for Vice Principal; 35–50 years for Principal; up to 50 years for Assistant Commissioner.

Relaxations: 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC candidates.

Qualifications:

PRT: 50% in Class 12 with D.El.Ed/B.El.Ed and CTET Paper I

Junior Secretariat Assistant: Class 12 with required typing speed

MTS: Class 10 pass

Selection Process

Recruitment will take place in multiple stages:

Tier-1: Two-hour qualifying exam with 100 MCQs (300 marks), covering Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Computer Literacy, General Knowledge and Languages. Negative marking applies.

Tier-2: 100-mark paper with objective and descriptive sections; 1/4 mark deduction for wrong answers.

Interview: 100 marks. Final merit will consider 85% from Tier-2 and 15% from the interview.

Application Fee

Assistant Commissioner/Principal/Vice Principal: ₹2,800 (General/OBC/EWS); ₹500 (SC/ST/PwD).

Secretariat Assistant, Stenographer, JSA, Lab Attendant, MTS: ₹1,700 (General/OBC/EWS); ₹500 (SC/ST/PwD).

PGT/TGT/PRT and similar posts: ₹2,000 (General/OBC/EWS); ₹500 (SC/ST/PwD).

The extended deadline gives candidates a little more breathing room to complete their forms and prepare for the January exams.
