The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is likely to start conducting the online test of NRA CET from September 2021. The Minister of State Personnel, Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Lok Sabha recently has informed this. National Recruitment Agency Common Eligibility Test (NRA CET) is a screening/preliminary exam that will be conducted to shortlist candidates for various Group B and C non-technical and non-gazetted posts for which recruitment is currently carried out through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).

NRA will conduct only the preliminary screening of candidates. The final recruitment will be done through the respective agencies such as SSC, RRBs and IBPS. Based on the score obtained in NRA CET, candidates will have to appear for the further stages/tiers of their respective exams that will be conducted by the respective recruitment agencies.

NRA will identify language experts to translate the question bank/paper in all regional languages in the eighth schedule of the constitution. This will be done as per the requirement and subject to an adequate number of candidates opting to take the test in the regional language.

NRA is likely to overtake the responsibility of conducting the tier-I/prelims exam for SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC GD, SSC CPO, SSC Stenographer, SSC JHT, SSC MTS, SSC Selection Post, RRB Group D, RRB NTPC, IBPS PO and IBPS Clerk. The government has set up the NRA, vide order dated August 28, 2020, as an independent, professional, specialist organisation for conduct of CET.
