Railways Filling 1.20 Lakh Vacancies, Recruitment on for 23,000 Safety Posts: Ashwini Vaishnaw
Railway Minister informed the Parliament that with No Paper Leaks, No Malpractice And Certainty of Exams, Railways Completes First/Single Stage Computer Based Tests for 59,678 Posts.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that Indian Railways is currently conducting recruitment for 1,20,579 vacancies notified in 2024 and 2025, with special focus on 23,000 safety-category posts such as Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs), Technicians, Junior Engineers, Paramedical Staff, and RPF Sub-Inspectors.
Highlighting the clean and time-bound process, the Minister stated that the first/single-stage Computer Based Tests for 59,678 posts have already been completed successfully with no paper leaks and no malpractice.
Vaishnaw emphasised that Indian Railways has set a new standard in large-scale government recruitment by ensuring complete fairness, certainty of exam schedules, and zero tolerance for irregularities, giving lakhs of aspirants confidence in the system.
The Minister highlighted that in the last 11 years, Indian Railways has provided employment to over 5.08 lakh people.
The Minister in his reply in Parliament stated that occurrence and filling up of vacancies are continuous processes in Indian Railways considering its size, spatial distribution and criticality of operation. Adequate and suitable manpower is provided to cater to the regular operations, changes in technology, mechanisations and innovative practices. The vacancies are filled up primarily by placement of indents by Railways with Recruitment agencies as per operational and technological requirements.
The Ministry statement reads: “During January to December 2024, ten Centralized Employment Notifications (CENs) for 92,116 vacancies were notified for filling up of posts of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs), Technicians, Sub-Inspectors, Constables in Railway Protection Force (RPF), Junior Engineers (JEs)/ Depot Material Superintendent (DMS)/ Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA), Paramedical Categories, Non-Technical Popular Categories (Graduate), Non-Technical Popular Categories (Under-Graduate), Ministerial & Isolated Categories and Level-1 categories such as Assistants, Track Maintainers and Pointsman.”
It further stated that RRB examinations are quite technical in nature entailing large scale mobilization of men and resources and training of manpower. Railway overcame all these challenges and successfully conducted the recruitment in a transparent manner following all laid down guidelines. No instance of paper leakage or similar malpractice has occurred during the entire process.
The duration of the test is 90 minutes (120 minutes is given to PwBD candidates). The CBT 2 exam is conducted for the qualified candidates of CBT 1 exam. RRB NTPC exam pattern for the second stage CBT is such that it is divided into three sections-General Questions Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The test carries a total of 120 questions.
The full form of NTPC is Non Technical Popular Categories. This exam is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board to appoint candidates as Commercial Apprentice, Goods guard, Traffic Apprentice, Traffic Assistant, Assistant Station Master, etc. All over India. The eligibility criteria prescribed for RRB NTPC is given below: Age limit: The age limit for undergraduate posts is 18 to 30 years. The age limit for graduate posts is 18 to 33 years. Educational qualification: For undergraduate posts, candidates must have passed Class 12. RRB NTPC Salary Railway Recruitment Board decides RRB NTPC salary structure. The basic pay of RRB NTPC Junior Clerk cum Typist is INR 19900 per month. RRB conducts the RRB NTPC exam to recruit candidates for various vacancies in the Indian Railways.
