Rajasthan Teacher Aspirants Demand More Jobs as #थर्ड_ग्रेड_में_पद_बढ़ाओ, #REET Trend Over Record Low Vacancies
More than 12 lakh candidates who cleared REET eligibility test earlier this year are now competing for a handful of jobs, roughly one seat for every 155 aspirants.
Anger is growing among teaching aspirants in Rajasthan after Staff Selection Board announced a small number of posts for third grade teachers. The new REET Mains 2025 notification, issued in July, mentions 7,759 vacancies, far fewer than what many aspirants expected.
Out of these, 5,636 posts are for teachers of Classes 1 to 5 (Level 1) and 2,123 posts for Classes 6 to 8 (Level 2). In upper primary group, there are 1,043 seats for Maths and Science and 296 for Social Studies.
More than 12 lakh candidates who cleared REET eligibility test earlier this year are now competing for a handful of jobs, roughly one seat for every 155 aspirants. Many recall that during the election campaign, there was talk of around 10,000 teaching posts, but the final figure turned out smaller. Several candidates say they have spent years in coaching centres, paying heavy fees, only to be left with disappointment.
“We studied for years, thinking the government would honour its word. Now it feels like everything went to waste,” said Ravi Kumawat, an aspirant from Sikar who has cleared REET twice.
Candidates need to have passed Class 12 with D.El.Ed and REET Level 1 for primary posts or graduation with B.Ed and REET Level 2 for upper primary. The written test, carrying full marks, will include sections on child development, pedagogy, language, maths and environment studies. Exams are expected between January 17 and 21, 2026, and forms will open soon on rsmssb.rajasthan.gov.in.
REET aspirants anger spreads Online
Since October 24, hashtags #थर्ड_ग्रेड_में_पद_बढ़ाओ and #REET have filled social media timelines. Hundreds of aspirants are tagging Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Education Minister Madan Dilawar and RSMSSB Chairman Alok Raj, urging them to increase number of posts.
User @AkshayRaj121805 posted: “युवाओं साथ धोखा मत करो @BhajanlalBjp #थर्ड_ग्रेड_में_पद_बढ़ाओ,”.
Many are also upset that applicants from outside Rajasthan can apply in the general category, arguing it reduces opportunities for locals. Aspirants want 80 to 90 percent of seats reserved for state residents and at least 20,000 posts to reflect the actual demand.
From 62,000 to 7,500- Post Drop Hurts
Several social media users compared the present recruitment with earlier years.
The REET 2025 marking scheme is as follows for Level 1 and Level 2 papers:
- Total marks: 150 for Level 1 and Level 2 each
- +1 for each correct answer
- No negative marking for wrong answers
- Negative marking of 1/3rd marks for unanswered questions
Another user, Sarita Bishnoi, appealed to Chief Minister: “माननीय भजनलाल जी, बेरोजगार स्टूडेंट्स REET मुख्य भर्ती परीक्षा में पद बढ़ाने की मांग कर रहे हैं... कृपया पदों की संख्या 25 से 30 हजार तक करें।”
Pratigya, another X user called the current number of posts “ऊंट के मुंह में जीरा”: > “भले ही विज्ञप्ति 1 या 2 महीने लेट हो जाए या एग्जाम डेट आगे बढ़ा दो, पर पदों की संख्या कम से कम 25–30 हजार तो होनी चाहिए #थर्ड_ग्रेड_में_पद_बढ़ाओ।”
Candidates Recall 2023 Jaipur Protests
The tone of this protest reminds many of 2023 when thousands gathered in Jaipur demanding 30,000 teaching jobs. Those promises were never fully kept, and now frustration is building again.
In several districts including Sikar, Nagaur and Jodhpur, small groups have already held symbolic sit-ins. Some coaching institutes in Jaipur’s Gopalpura area even closed for a day to show solidarity.
If no announcement comes soon, candidates say bigger marches could start in November. With youth unemployment in Rajasthan still near 30 percent, these teaching jobs are not just about employment, they represent hope after years of preparation.
