Recruitment of 606 college teachers by Odisha government begins
A total of 606 teachers will be recruited in 52 government degree colleges in 20 different subjects. Read more below.
The Higher Education Department, Bhubaneswar has begun the recruitment process for 606 college teachers in 52 government degree colleges across the state. The college teachers will be appointed in a total of 20 subjects.
Snigdha Champatiray, deputy secretary, higher education department of the state in an official letter urged the secretary of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to take immediate action for the early recruitment of suitable candidates for the total required college branch lecturers.
Given below is the subject-wise detailed list of the vacancies-
- Anthropology– 6
- Botany- 48
- Chemistry- 85
- Commerce- 30
- Economics- 40
- Education- 20
- English- 44
- Environmental Science- 5
- Geography- 10
- Geology- 8
- History- 30
- Logic and Philosophy- 10
- Mathematics- 63
- Odia- 25
- Physics- 75
- Political Science- 10
- Psychology- 14
- Sociology- 12
- Life Science- 3
- Zoology- 68
Of the total vacant posts, the government has reserved 136 posts for Scheduled Tribe (ST) category candidates, 98 for Scheduled Caste (SC), 66 for socially and economically backward class (SEBC), 24 for Persons with disability (PwD), six for sportspersons and 18 for ex-servicemen category candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be a minimum of 21 years of age and should not exceed 33 years. They should have completed a Master’s degree in the concerned subject from a recognized university with a minimum of 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST candidates). They must also have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET), which is the compulsory requirement for appointment as a lecturer for candidates with PG degree. Those having a PhD degree will be exempted from NET.
