CUET 2026 Subject Selection

National Testing Agency is offering 37 UG subjects through CUET 2026. These subjects are divided into three sections – Language, Domain-specific and General Aptitude Test. As per CUET Information Bulletin PDF, candidates can choose a maximum of 5 subjects in the application form. CUET UG registration process 2026 is ongoing, and the window will close on January 30, 2026. Candidates who have not yet filled CUET 2026 application form must understand the selection criteria and rules before making a choice. NTA will conduct CUET 2026 from May 11 to May 31, 2026.

Total CUET UG Subjects

Candidates can choose CUET subjects from the following UG subjects.

Section CUET Subjects
Section 1 - Languages English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu
Section 2 - Domain Specific Accountancy/Book Keeping, Agriculture, Anthropology, Biology/Biological Studies/Biotechnology/Biochemistry, Business Studies, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, Economics/Business Economics, Fine Arts/Visual Arts(Sculpture/Painting)/ Commercial Art, Geography/ Geology, History, Home Science, Knowledge Tradition Practices in India, Mass Media/Mass Communication, Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, Performing Arts, Physical Education/National Cadet Corps(NCC)/ Yoga, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, and Sociology.

How Many Subjects Can I Choose in CUET UG 2026?

National Testing Agency states that a candidate can select up to 5 subjects in CUET online form. However, they can select less than 5, i.e., 3 subjects and 4 subjects. Candidates cannot select more than 5 subjects.

Aspirants must follow below steps to decide which subject to select.

  1. Make a list of your target universities for specific course.
  2. Open NTA CUET official website and check CUET subject combination of your target course in each of the dream colleges.
  3. Make a combination of 5 subjects that are required based on your course preference.
  4. Carefully select subjects and re-check the selection before submitting form.

CUET 2026 Subject Combination: Important Instructions

Candidates filling online form must keep the following selection criteria in mind while choosing subjects.

  • Although NTA allows candidates to select subjects irrespective of those studied in Class 12, they are advised to choose subjects they have already studied in 12th.
  • Students must keep their strengths and weaknesses in a subject in mind before making selection.
  • They must give preference to their future goals and career interest.
  • Candidates must go through CUET eligibility criteria and subject mapping of the target university.
