Patna University extends PG admission deadline to August 6, 2025, offering over 2,600 seats across 47 postgraduate programmes; 6,000 students already applied.

Patna University (PU) has extended the last date for submission of online applications for postgraduate courses to August 6, 2025, in response to delays in undergraduate final-year results. Earlier, the deadline was July 31, but many students were unable to apply due to pending mark sheets.

According to the university’s admission office, over 6,000 students have already registered. PU is offering around 1,803 seats in conventional PG programmes and 807 seats in self-financed courses. These span disciplines such as Political Science, English, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Sociology, and others.

University officials stated that the extension is aimed at giving a fair chance to students from Patna University as well as other universities in Bihar, who faced delays in result declaration. β€œWe received multiple requests from students to extend the deadline. The administration has responded promptly, considering their concerns,” a senior official said.

Admissions will be conducted based on merit, with no entrance exam this year. The counselling process is expected to begin soon after the application window closes. Students are advised to fill out their choices carefully as seat allotment will be done department-wise based on merit.

The application process remains entirely online through the university's portal. PU has also established help desks across departments to assist students facing issues with uploading documents or paying fees.

The extension has come as a relief for many students who feared missing out due to administrative delays. Patna University, one of the oldest institutions in Bihar, continues to be a preferred choice for PG aspirants, especially those in the Arts and Social Sciences streams.
