Shiksha Polls: 53% Students want a Common National Entrance for Nursing like NEET

Nursing in India is one of the highly covered professional degree programme for which medical aspirants prepare for after completing 10+2 examination. The nursing entrance exam season generally begins from March every year and extends till October/November (counselling process). As per the Indian Nursing Council, approximately 23,40,501 registered nurses are practicing in India, with around 2,82,219 students completing nursing courses annually.
Being a popular field of interest, recently, shiksha.com ran a poll to seek the opinion of the candidates regarding a national-level entrance exam to be held for nursing courses.

Out of all the voters who participate, a maximum respondents seemed to be in favour of this move, as 53% of respondents said yes, it will be convenient for seeking admission as a single score will be accepted by all nursing colleges across India. Around 20% responded that it would be easy for exam preparation as there will be a centralized syllabus to prepare for all the institutes offering nursing programmes. Approximately 12% of candidates said that multiple exams are good. Around 4% had an opinion that state quota works fine for the admission process. The remaining 11% of respondents were not sure about the common national level entrance for nursing for granting admission.
