The PGIMER BSc Nursing 2026 admission process will begin soon for the academic year 2026-27. The application process will be rolled out by the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, the official exam conducting body for the BSc nursing exam at the official website, pgimer.edu.in. 

Candidates can start preparing for the exam by taking a cue from the PGIMER BSc Nursing exam pattern and PGIMER BSc Nursing syllabus. It is a UG-level online nursing entrance exam and will be held in the morning shift at the designated test centres across India. The counselling process grants admission to both BSc (Hons.) Only FEMALE candidates who have cleared class 12 exams or equivalent exam from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects and have secured a minimum of 55 per cent marks in aggregate in class 12 and SC/ST category candidates should have secured 50 per cent in aggregate. A: 

PGIMER BSc Nursing 2025 entrance exams will be organized and conducted by the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh for admissions in BSc Nursing programmes like BSc (Hons.) Nursing and BSc (Post-Basic) Nursing. It is an online (Computer-Based Test) which will be conducted for the duration of 90 minutes/1.5 hours. What is PGIMER BSc Nursing 2026

PGIMER BSc Nursing 2026 exam will be conducted annually to grant admission into nursing programmes at the Undergraduate (UG) level, such as BSc (Hons) Nursing and BSc (Post-Basic) Nursing courses. Candidates seeking admission into nursing right after class 12 are eligible to appear for the PGIMER BSc Nursing 2026 exam. Candidates should have passed class 12 with physics, chemistry, and biology subjects from a recognized board/university, securing at least 45 percent marks in aggregate (40 percent for reserved categories). There are 93 seats in BSc (Hons.) Nursing and 62 seats in BSc (Post-Basic) Nursing.

Q:   By when we can expect the PGIMER BSc Nursing entrance exam 2025 to be held?
A: 

The PGIMER BSc Nursing entrance exam will tentatively be conducted in July last week in the morning slot. The exam date will be announced through official notification by the PGIMER, Chandigarh at the official website, pgimer.edu.in. Candidates who will appear in the exam will be able to check their result and answer key around 15 days after the exam.

Q:   I am 30 years of age. Can I apply for the PGIMER BSc nursing programme?
A: 

As per the guidelines issued by the exam conducting body, students must not be more than 25 years of age and should not be less than 17 years on 1st September, 2025. Hence, applicants born after 01.09.2007 and before 01.09.1999 are not eligible to apply for the course. For the BSc Nursing course (4 years), only FEMALE students are eligible to apply within this age bracket.

Who is Eligible for PGIMER BSc Nursing 2026?

PGIMER BSc Nursing eligibility criteria are important to know before applying for the entrance exam. The PGIMER BSc Nursing exam 2026 is a national-level exam and is conducted for admissions to undergraduate-level courses, BSc nursing, and Post-basic nursing, and requires separate eligibility criteria for the respective courses. To apply for the national-level exam, candidates must comply with the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

For BSc Nursing (Four years)

  • For the BSc nursing programme, only female candidates will be eligible to apply
  • The aspirant should have passed the class 12 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English subjects, or any other equivalent examination with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate
  • Aspirants appearing for the class 12 exam in April/May 2026 will also be eligible to apply
  • The maximum age of the candidate should not exceed more than 25 years and not be less than 17 years in the year of admission

For BSc Nursing Post-Basic

  • The aspirant should have passed the Class 12 examination or equivalent
  • The candidate should have completed General Nursing and Midwifery with a minimum of 50 percent marks in aggregate
  • The aspirant should have three years of experience in nursing or public health nursing with the state/central government or any recognized hospital or institute
  • The maximum age of the candidate should not be exceeding more than 45 years

There are a total of 93 seats in the PGIMER BSc nursing (Hons.) programme. General category candidates have 47 seats, SC category candidates have 14 seats, ST category candidates have 07 seats, OBC category candidates have 25 seats, and PwBD category candidates have 5 seats in all. It is a 4 year course. Please note that reservation to PwBD candidates is given on horizontal basis and as per Govt. of India guidelines revised from time to time. So, the number of seats mentioned for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) will be adjusted against the category to which he / she belongs.

Q:   How many seats are there in PGIMER BSc nursing (Post-Basic) programme?

There are a total of 62 seats in the PGIMER BSc nursing (Hons.) programme. General category candidates have 22 seats, SC category candidates have 07 seats, ST category candidates have 04 seats, OBC category candidates have 14 seats, and PwBD category candidates have 03 seats in all. Candidates having Color blindness are eligible provided that their color blindness can be corrected with contact lens and spectacles worn by such candidates. PGIMER BSc Nursing 2026 Application Form

PGIMER BSc Nursing application process 2026 will be organised through the official website, pgimer.edu.in. The application forms will tentatively be released in May 2026. Here is the summary of the process to follow for registration. Visit the admission portal and provide details such as their name, date of birth, a valid email ID, and a mobile number. Fill in all the mandatory fields in the application form and upload the image and the signature as per the specifications mentioned in the prospectus. Choose the exam centre carefully, as later no one will be allowed to change the exam centre. The application fee payment is the last and most important step. The conducting body will not accept any application form if the fee is not paid. Once the application fee is paid in full, the candidate will be issued an admit card.

The city of examination centre once chosen and allotted will not be changed and any request in this regard will not be entertained. PGIMER BSc Nursing Admit Card 2026

PGIMER BSc nursing admit card will be issued by the conducting body, PGIMER Chandigarh, tentatively in July 2026. Candidates whose application forms will be accepted by the conducting body will be allowed to download the hall ticket. Candidates need to visit the official website of the PGIMER, Chandigarh, to access the same. It will be mandatory to provide the application number and password to access the PGIMER BSc nursing admit card. The admit card will be issued in a downloadable PDF format.

After downloading the hall ticket, check all the details mentioned on it to avoid any issues at the examination hall. It is mandatory to carry the PGIMER BSc nursing admit card to the exam centre on the day of the exam. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall without it. The conducting body will not send the admit card to any candidate via post.

PGIMER BSc Nursing Counselling 2026

PGIMER BSc Nursing counselling 2026 will be organised and conducted by PGIMER, Chandigarh, tentatively in August 2026. The PGIMER will invite all the shortlisted candidates for counselling. Candidates will have to prove their eligibility as the eligibility criteria by producing all the mandatory documents. The conducting body will verify the documents in the original and their self-attested photocopies. PGIMER Chandigarh will organise the counselling, and all the invited candidates have to report to the venue of the counselling on the allotted date and time. No candidate will be entertained on any other day besides the allotted date.

Q:   What are the chances of my PGIMER nursing application form getting rejected?

The institute has not announced the fees for the AY 2025-26. When PGIMER will announce the fee, students will be able to pay it using debit or credit card. Last year, the application fee for this course was INR 1,500 for the general and OBC categories and INR 1,200 for the SC/ST category.
