COVID-19 Pandemic: RRB NTPC 2020 exam delayed, exam date likely to be announced after Apr 30

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the world at a scale and speed. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of active cases in India is 2,088 as on April 3 and the figure keeps rising. COVID-19 outbreak has not only impacted the economy and business of the country, its effect can be seen in the education sector too. As a precautionary measure, several central and state government exams have been cancelled. This has resulted in the delay in the recruitment process. RRB NTPC first stage CBT exam has been delayed again.

Earlier, it was expected that the exam date will be announced after April 16, but due to the prevailing situation, Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have extended the tender dates for Exam Conducting Agency (ECA). Unless the ECA is not finalized, RRBs will not announce RRB NTPC exam dates. Now it is being speculated that the exam dates will be announced after April 30, which is also the date for conducting technical bid against the tender. 

It is been one year now that RRB NTPC notification was released. The first stage CBT was scheduled to be conducted between June and September. However, the exam was delayed due to some reason or the other.

The recruitment is conducted to fill up a total of 35,208 RRB NTPC vacancies in various Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways. Through this recruitment, Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) posts such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master will be filled. Total 1,26,30,885 applications have been received for the recruitment exam.

RBB NTPC recruitment comprises four stages: Stage I, Computer Based Test (CBT); Stage II, Computer Based Test (CBT); Typing Skill Tect/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable) and Document Verification-Medical examination
