My advice to you is, please don't get into this field if you are an average or even an above average student. The scope of getting a job in aerospace field is very limited. In the foregoing paragraphs, I will give you a sense of competition and struggles that you will face choosing this field as your career. And give you a solution if you are really interested in this field or if you are already into this field. It all boils down to demand and supply, there is limited demand for engineers in India, but a huge supply, so no matter how skilled you are and how accomplished you become within your student life, there is someone who is one step ahead of you. So to beat the competition people in this field are doing a lot (like Ph.D. just for an entry level job in an aerospace frim. And also, brand value is important in India, so if you are not doing your studies in IITs, that's one more hurdle you have to face. Even people from IITs are struggling to get a job. Please don't compare this with any other fields (like IT), because there are no such thing as small companies where you can work as an aerospace engineer, unlike a software engineer who can work in a tiny company with just ten people in it. There are only gaints like Boeing, Airbus, Pratt and Whitney, DRDO, HAL, ISRO, NAL etc.
