If you are from CBSE board then you have to score more than 75% marks but if you are from any state board then try to be in the top 20 percentile for getting admission in IIT or any top college.

Aeronautical or aerospace engineering is used for same thing in India. But, I have not understood your use of term "on board performance". If you can elaborate, better advice could be offered.

MIT is perhaps the oldest institute in India to offer Aeronautical Engineering course. It all began in year 1949. Our Ex-President Shri APJ Abdul Kalam is an alumni of this Institute. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information.
