Architectural engineering, also known as building engineering, is the application of engineering principles and technology to building design and construction. Definitions of an architectural engineer may refer to:
An engineer in the structural, mechanical, electrical, construction or other engineering fields of building design and construction. A licensed engineering professional in parts of the United States. Architectural engineers are those who work with other engineers and architects for the designing and construction of buildings. As of 2011, there are 17 accredited architectural engineering programs. Hi, It will continue to be in demand for several reasons. Many engineers will avoid that field because of the attention to details it requires and the associated liability. Structural engineers are the reason people don't worry about buildings and bridges collapsing, and they demand a lot of respect.The the largest shift in materials in the future will be in composites and designs using high strength fibers that are strategically placed by structural engineers to withstand forces. I believe 3D printers will increase interest in using composite materials and they will start being utilized much more in construction in the future.nI have often been wrong about my predictions as to the future, so keep that in mind.nUnfortunately, it is very difficult to see a change as rapid as with the computer industry because unlike our industry they don't need billions of dollars to create something. I intend to say that our industry is very funding intensive and with depleting funds - it will be tough to get a rapid turnaround. Coming to the future in terms of technologies, contour grafting - 3D printing of houses has the potential to make its entry into regular housing practices. From the materials standpoint, sustainability is being stressed upon but a balance between sustainability and economy is preventing a lot of materials from making its entry - any advances on that balance can change a lot of materials we deal with. A change in design philosophies - limit design to performance-based, strength-based to durability based etc. Is happening to create a need for a change in our codes of practice and practice itself. The needed skill from labor is reducing with high tech products (like SCC, etc.). Which can make for a huge difference in terms of employed demographic and that could ultimately lead to more efficient construction methods.these years, we're seeing a lot of sustainability and full cradle-to-cradle. Also, we're seeing higher levels of integration between constructions and installations, in the name of energy efficiency. Structural engineering - at least in the building sector - is a rather conservative place, and new technologies only sift slowly through the branch. Materials are refined and so forth, but electronic technology is mostly something you add afterwards - it's not a part of the structural engineering itself. All the best.
