If you want to pursue M.Des then National Institute of Design is the best option for you.

Don't go for mechanical engineering unless it's IIT or NIT.

You can change your branch in B.Tech after completing Diploma in mechanical engineering.

That totally depends on which field you want to pursue. NID doesn't offer Automobile design for B.des hence in case you wish to pursue that, you will have to graduate in another field. Having prior knowledge of product design studied in graduation however, may help you excel in the post grad course.

It is certainly hard to say. It depends on the college you study from and where do you gets and which country do you get placed in.

Hi Raj, I will say abroad if money is not the issue and if you have a good profile. You will be exposed to better technology and trends.

Most of the good Car designing courses eligibility criteria is B.Tech Mechanical Engineering or B.Tech Automobile Engineering. You are advised to seek lateral entry admission in B.Tech after Diploma in Engineering to fulfil your dream for becoming a car designer.
