It depends on the institute actually. Basic eligibility although is 10+2, but there might be some age bar that you check individually from the colleges.

Indian Board of Alternative Medicines, duly Registered by the Government of West Bengal under Act XXVI based on the Central Government Act XXI of 1860.
So it is not illegal for you to practice in Alternative medicine if you earned a degree and license for it.

For every Ayurvedic student, the best MD course would be different as per their liking of the specific field. Students usually prefer clinical subjects because you can practice in Ayurvedic hospitals as an edge over non-clinical subjects.
