Yes, a BEd from IGNOU is valid and recognized, provided it is pursued from an institution that is recognised by the UGC and approved by the NCTE.

IGNOU BEd entrance test isn't difficult if you have prepared well for the exam. In general, this test falls under moderate difficulty level.

The regulatory authority National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) changed the B.Ed course from 1-year to 2‑year (four semesters) for all new admissions since around 2014‑15.

For distance or correspondence B.Ed (or ODL — open/distance learning) mode, NCTE sets that the duration must be 24 months (2 years).

Therefore, any “1‑year B.Ed” — through regular or distance mode — is not valid under current NCTE norms (unless it's some outdated or special exception, which is unlikely).

There are many govt. and state universities that conduct BEd entrance exams like IGNOU, VMOU, Kakatiya University, and many more. Check your preferred exam and verify which university will conduct that exam for the 2026 session.
