Normally speaking centrally funded technical institutes base their admissions on ranking obtained in JEE Mains examination. The majority of the states across India conduct some or the other entrance test to give admission to their respective engineering colleges, the exception being Tamil Nadu. This is the case also for many or almost all deemed to be cities across India. Hence you will realize that your desire to become a biotechnologist can be fulfilled only and only if you appear for one of the entrance examinations. This could be due to not very large number of students seeking admission for M Tech here, as compared with the seats.
