Hi, the master degree in Biotechnology is offered by Harvard Extension school and the classes are a combination of online and offline courses. Not sure if your sister or you would be interested for this program. Look for a full time program.

MS is a better option, since many universities offer MS in biotechnology. You can write GATE exam and if you pass it, you can pursue M.Tech from a decent college.

Biotechnology is a very vast subject. Bioinformatics is a part of biotechnology. Biotechnology has more scope than bioinformatics. Through biotechnology, we can go for research, food quality assurance, teaching, science writer, management, quality control officer and some more. But bioinformatics do not provide this much career options in future.
