Cruise Ship Career Paths:
With most cruise liners being like mini-cities (some ships can hold 2000 guests or more), with staff reaching over 3000, you can just imagine the multitude of jobs that await. There are certain sections on board a cruise ship where you can find the job that is most appropriate to you and your relevant skills or qualifications:
Restaurants (chef jobs, kitchen staff, waiters, barman, manager, etc.)
Hotel Facilities (cabin crew, housekeeping, reception, manager, butlers etc.)
Leisure Center (instructors, lifeguards, activity leaders, etc.)
Gym (personal trainers, workers, etc.)
Salon and Spa Jobs (massage therapist, hair stylist, etc.)
Land Excursion Team (tour guide, seaman, recreation staff, etc.)
Merchant Marine Jobs(captain, mates, able seaman, deckhands, etc.)

In each of these areas, you can find tons of cruise liner jobs that will appeal to you. Certain positions require some form of qualification whether it is in the hospitality industry, retail sector, medical wing, or maritime, but some of the entry-level positions are open for those that have no qualifications as yet, like students or high school graduates looking for a bit of adventure while they make some money. Some jobs on cruise ships will require you to have some experience in a related field.
Assistant or Junior Waiter/ess:
Job Description: To maintain and provide a high-quality service and customer care for all guests on board in the food service section. You will be required to hold a position of responsibility within the emergency plan of the ship.
Job Requirements: You need to have at least 2 years of experience in a top hotel or restaurant environment, you need a diploma or recognized equivalent, you must have an excellent command of the English language both verbal and written, and you need to be pleasant, positive, and outgoing, along with a desire to succeed.

You can work in booking and confirm reservations for passengers on scheduling flights, helping the customers in chalking out their travel schedule and so on. Profession one has to deal with people who are from any part of the world and desiring to get to any other part of the world. So one has to be ready to serve people from all over the globe. There may be people from Kazakhstan who want an air ticket to Melbourne. And such people will come by across in hundreds and those who are doing the air ticketing have to search and arrange air tickets for all these passengers. Services have to be provided to domestic airline travelers as well as International airline travelers. There are a number of airlines the world over. Those into airline ticketing have to be well conversed with whether there is a flight accommodation for a passenger from his place of departure to the place of arrival. They have to look up international flight timing charts for this. Also, if one passenger intends to travel up-to one country, halt there for two days and then go to another country, they have to look up flights which co-ordinate the timings of the passenger.
Main job roles in this area are Air Ticketing Executive, and Air Ticketing Voice Support.

1. Web Designing –
Web designing is a great opportunity for those who want to work independently. Web designing courses deal with various elements of making and maintaining a site. 2. VFX and Animation
These courses deal with topics like visual effects, animation, 3D technology, graphics etc. Earlier, this course had few takers. But with the increased demand for VFX and Animation professionals, this course has become popular once again. Again, there are a number of good quality private institutes that offer animation course. One of the best among them is Arena Multimedia. The fees vary from institute to institute.
3. Hardware and Networking courses
Many Indian students are well aware of these courses. Their advertisement keeps appearing on Newspaper and TV every now and then. As they promise, these courses guarantee jobs. When it comes to computer hardware and networking, the most popular institute is Jetking. They have a good placement record. They offer a variety of courses- long and short term. Bright students may also avail scholarships at Jetking.

Earn a degree in software engineering or equivalent discipline. Most software engineer positions require a Bachelor's degree. Majoring in software engineering will provide the most useful background for designing and perfecting software in the corporate world. Computer science is another good choice, although its more theoretical approach is best suited for future graduate students and R&D work.
If you're still in grade school, you can give yourself a huge head start by teaching yourself. You can start with languages like C, C+, JAVA, UNIX and Shell Scripting.
Seek an internship-
Many software engineer students work as interns while they complete their studies. This can be an excellent way to gain hands-on training and network with potential employers.
