If you do not succeed in some subjects the first time, you can do something and be able to succeed. It will also be advisable to consult with a counselor in order to know the best strategy to follow further. The truth is that whether a student does a compartment exam or repeats 12th grade what counts is the interest in learning. Built an understanding about where you went wrong before and ensure you get the support you need to overcome those problems.

Yes you can give your improvement exam in 2026 as a private candidate without appearing for it in 2025. According to the CBSE rules a candidate who has passed an examination can reappear for improvement of performance in one or more subjects in the succeeding year only. This means you have the option to take the improvement exam in 2026 if you passed your board exams in 2025.

To register as a private candidate you'll need to fill out the application form usually available from September to October and submit it along with the required fee. The examination will typically be held in March or April with results declared in May or June
