Civil engineers design, build, supervise, operate, and maintain construction projects and systems in the public and private sector, including roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment. Many civil engineers work in design, construction, research, and education. Civil Engineering is an age old profession and with Government of India's focus on infrastructure scope and opportunities for Civil Engineer will be very high for next few years.

First thing, you must have a keen interest to pursue civil engineering. You need to have planning, designing, supervising and administering skills. Also, you must be ready to sweat out and construction sites and ready to work in hostile conditions.
Civil engineers have good opportunities in government sectors. There is a huge demand of civil engineers as government has boosted the infrastructure sector. There are equally good opportunities in private sector for civil engineers.
