Hi,
No, it's not compulsory. You can have direct admission in MCA with or without CMAT but it depends on institute and university's own discretion.

To get admission into any reputed B-school for its full-time MBA program, one has to appear for the particular entrance exam(s), clear the required cutoffs and perform really well in the interview rounds.

Required cut off for IFMR in CMAT is around 90 percentile. In CAT cut off is 80 percentile.

Hi,
IBSAT and CMAT both exams are for management admission. Through these exams, one can get admission in good management institutes.CMAT is tougher than IBSAT.
IBSAT exam includes Reading Comprehension, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation. CMAT includes Quantitative Techniques, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, etc.
So both the exams have similar content but only differ in difficulty level. Institutes like IBS Business School, ICFAI University, etc. also give admission through IBSAT and institutes like JBIMS-Mumbai, Goa Institute of Management-Goa, K. J. Somaiya Institute of Manageme

CMAT and MAT, these both exams are among the important management exams. But CMAT is bit tougher than MAT. These exams are almost the same but difficulty level is somehow different.
MAT exam includes Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Data Analysis, Mathematical Skills, etc. and CMAT includes Quantitative Techniques, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, etc.

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national-level computer-based management entrance test. The test is conducted by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
The CMAT is a three hour online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate's ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.
