IIT ranks 6 in the list of top colleges of India. Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati offers many courses out of which Electronics and communication engineering is one of the courses which offers about 70 seats to students. It offers the students with hands on experience programs to work on real time based machines in industry interactive sessions. IIT-Guwahati is known for its great infrastructure faculty with 5 to 10 years of experience and they are very knowledgeable and facilities like Wi-Fi, Sports Complex and labs with better equipment and machines. It is sister branch of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. The placement of these courses takes place together. After considering the placement report of 2016 for IIT, Guwahati in biotechnology engineering branch, out of the 40 students who enrolled for placements, 32 got placed. Some core companies this visit like Biocon, Narayan Cadillac, Sun Pharma, Ranbaxy, Brenntag Industries, etc. But gave away very few offers, Also these placements were mostly considering Business Intelligence, data analytics, banking finance, marketing and other such companies due to the lack of ample of core biotechnology companies visiting the campus and thus rolled out IT based roles. IIT, Guwahati has dedicated placement and training cell which is huge but they are mostly IT companies with big brand recognition. Students usually take up Masters in the same college to increase the chances of getting into core biotech company. Where Placements are phenomenal. The average package was 5 LPA and the highest was 11 LPA and minimum offered range was 4.5 LPA.
