In April last year, the UGC had issued a list of 24 fake universities. According to the UGC Act, 1956 a degree can be awarded only by a university that's established under a central, state/provincial act or an institution empowered by an Act of Parliament to confer a degree. An institution deemed to be university under section 3 of the UGC Act can also confer a degree. Additionally, the UGC prohibited the use of the word 'university' by any institution that was not established as per the stated guidelines. Self-styled, unrecognized institutions that are functioning in contravention of the UGC Act were recognised as fake by the commission. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked chief secretaries, education secretaries and principal secretaries of certain states to take action against a few fake universities that are running in the respective states.

Hi,Yes, you can appear for the entrance exams and go for a B-Tech degree.
In my opinion, Food Technology would be covering a wider aspect. You will develop competence in areas like Food Process Engineering, Crop Processing Technology, Food Analysis and regulations, Plant and Animal biotechnology.
You need a pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology) or equivalent, subject to qualifying JEE Mains or the qualifying entrance test of a university. Like some universities have their own entrance exam like LPU, if you have not given JEEMains you can give LPUNest, the details of this test with the paper pattern is given on their website.
You can also give the other entrance exams like TANCET for taking admission in ANNA University.
