According to the rule book of IKGPTU, a student can enroll in a single programme at a time. The university believes that pursuing a single programme with complete focus can enable students to get qualified and skilled to eprform well in their choice of career. Also, there is no way a student can pursue two regular programmes at a time. It'll cause too much hustle.

NIT Jalandhar will release 6-8 rounds of JEE Main cutoffs for admission to B.Tech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering. The cutoffs will be released on a rolling basis, and the seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The cutoffs will be based on the following factors:

  • The JEE Main score of the candidate
  • The category of the candidate
  • The number of seats available in the course

Candidates must visit the official website of the entrance exam to read clear instructions on how to proceed with the counselling process, once the round is released.

IKGPTU accepts admissions to programmes in either a direct way or through counseling. Students who are interested in pursuing any programme at the university must have to apply beforehand. Students can apply through the official website of the university and complete the application by paying the application fees, i.e. non-refundable. Candidates can apply to the programmes as soon as the applications start for the session.

There is only PG which is available nearer to this university in which the college staffs stays, it is not for girls, generally most of students stay in the college hostel because it has very less hostel fee. Also in kapurthala which is nearly 4-5kms from the university, there are two-three PGs available which is better to stay. But no one from our college lives there, if some one don't want to stay in hostel either they are local or they take a flat/apartment.

For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Mechanical Engineering was 43133 which is very close to this range. This was for the General category under the All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut-offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission to NIT Jalandhar BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
