After passing Diploma Engineering / B.Sc (Hons.) with 60% average marks and no back log from any AICTE approved institute along with a valid rank in JELET, students can apply for lateral admission in 2nd year 3rd Semester.
Admissions are made as per the directive of the State Government issued from year to year. As of now, 90% of the seats are filled up through Central Counselling from the candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or any equivalent examination of recognized Board or University and qualified in the Joint Entrance Examin

No, it is not necessary, as the faculties of university is enough and their teaching help you a lot. A review of a candidate from this university about faculty is given below -
Faculty: Our faculty members are very good and helpful. They teach us in a friendly way, and I also like the discipline maintained by both the faculty members & students in college premises. Our teachers always offer free doubt clearing class which we can join after 4 pm every day. But, I think the college authority needs to give more exposure to entrepreneurship development among young students & e-cell for undergraduate students is highly required.
