Calcutta University offers MBA across three specialisations. Calcutta University MBA course is offered through the Department of Business Management at Alipore Campus. The same department also offers an MBA in Human Resource Development. Students can also get admission to the MBA (Financial Management) course, which is taught through the Department of Commerce at Calcutta University.

Out of 417 UG (3-year) graduates, 252 were placed during Calcutta University placements 2022. For BTech and BA LLB courses, the number of students placed was 305 and 95, respectively. The placement rate recorded for UG (3-year), BTech and BA LLB courses was 60%, 85%, and 80%, respectively. Earlier, 247 UG (3-year), 189 BTech and 96 BA LLB students were placed during 2021 placements.

Calcutta University has been ranked 12 under the 'University' category by NIRF 2023. Under the 'Overall' category, the university has been ranked 23 by the NIRF in 2023. University of Calcutta is also ranked 751-760 by the QS World University Rankings 2025.
