You can definitely let him go with diploma. As diploma consists of 3 years and after that, he will direct get admission into the second year of engineering. He will not have to appear for any entrance exam. If he opts for 11th 12th, it will be of 2 years and he will get admission in first years of engineering which is equivalent to 4 years of engineering i.e. 2 years of 11th and 12th, and yrs of engineering(2+4=6) poly is of 3 years i.e. (3+3=6 years). SO, the duration remains the same.

Yes, you should give entrance exam for this as the admission should be done on the following basis:
Register and Apply:
Interested candidates can apply online with the required information.
Aptitude Test:
Eligible candidates need to appear for the General Aptitude Test (GAT) conducted by the Whistling Woods International.
Studio Test.
Eligible candidates need to appear for the Music Ability Test (MAT) and Melody and Rhythm Test.
Personal Interview:
Shortlisted candidates will be called for Personal Interview based on the score obtained in the entrance test.
Final Selection:
Candidates are selected based on GAT, MAT, Melody & Rhythm Test scor

The eligibility criteria for LLB course is that one should have BA/B.Sc/B.Com degree with a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate for general category and 35% in aggregate for SC/ST students. But you have to pass the entrance exam and personal interview.
